Removal / Demolition / Installation of Fire Detection and Occupant Warning System

Location: Katanning WA

Background

Critical Fire was selected to provide Fire Detection and Occupant Warning System works at the DPIRD Regional Office in Katanning, a small regional town in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia. Following the identification of required structural repairs, works were required to remove a large portion of the fire detection and occupant warning system to permit the structural repairs and, following these repairs, reinstatement of the system.

Project

Due to the time critical nature of the project, Critical Fire mobilised its team at short notice to ensure the project remained on time. Works involved:

  • Travelling to site with all required tools and equipment, being mindful that a small town may not have local resources if required
  • Testing of the system to confirm its current status
  • Survey of the area to identify components required for demolition
  • Removal of all fire detectors, OWS speakers and all associated cabling from the demolition area.
  • Make safe and terminate cabling to permit structural works

Following the repairs, re-attendance at site to complete:

  • Roughing in of cable to required locations for detector and speaker installation
  • Supply and Installation of detectors, speakers and cabling plus associated fixings
  • Testing and commissioning of all works
  • Removal of all waste materials from site
  • Compliance documentation

Outcomes

  1. All works completed in accordance with AS 1670 and client specifications
  2. Completed on time and on budget, allowing handover of the building back to the client
